March 27th

Mom is at home and staying with Memaw and Papa. They went to Wal-Mart and the Picadilly yesterday so I'm sure mom enjoyed that. Memaw and Papa will be working with her to continue her rehab. Other than that, not much to report. If you wish to speak with her, you may reach her at 770-435-7216. But please keep your calls to around 10 - 15 minutes. This means you too Roberta! :)

March 22nd

Mom is doing great in rehab. She walked 100 feet the other day and yesterday, she stood up on her own out of bed. She is much stronger than she was when she was first released from rehab back in December. She has more strength in her arms and legs.

She will be going home Monday to stay with Memaw and Papa (Bob and Betty, her parents). Things are looking great. :)

Dr. Mccune says he will still give her some more Depocyte treatments (the chemo that goes into her spine through the port in her head) but those aren't as big of a deal because they do not effect her the way the R-CHOP does.

The swelling is gone out of her legs and things are getting back to normal for her. Thank you for all the prayer so far! It is working and God is working through her.

March 19th

Dr. Mccune has decided to stop mom's R-CHOP chemo. He feels that it is doing more damage than good at this point. He says we can always do more treatments if needed, but he dosn't want to put her body through that anymore unless absolutely necessary. And since the cancer cells are no longer in her spinal fluid, that works for us! We do want to have an MRI done while she is in the hospital so we can see how much is left of the original tumor that was next to her brain. We know it has shrunk just because mom's face has more movement and feeling back in it, we just don't know how much. So we are going to check with him about getting that and to see if mom can be classified as in remission yet or what else needs to be done. But, no more R-CHOP for now.

So mom will finish up her stint in rehab (they originally gave her 10-14 days) and then come home and try and get back to normal.

If you wish to visit mom, wait until around 4:00pm or so because by then she is finished with her OT/PT and will be in her room. If you come earlier, you run the chance of just sitting in her room for 30 - 45 minutes while they work with her. She is in room 664. If you would like to call her, the number to her room is 770-793-6664. Make sure you limit your calls to about 10 minutes so she doesn't get worn out. And also please limit visits to about an hour. If you want to send her a card, you can mail those to my address:

The swelling is finally going down! And mom is feeling pretty good. Not much to update you on besides that.

Her phone number in her hospital room is 770-793-6664. If no one answers when you call, it's because she is probably in PT or OT so just try her again later.

Thanks!

Feel free to post any comments or questions you want answered since I have fixed the comment link :)

March 11th

Mom is back in rehab. I went by and visited with her yesterday and she seemed happy to be back. Of course, it's more work for her and it's painful for her to be moving so much with the swelling in her legs, but she knows what to expect and seemed to be doing great yesterday. All of the nurses remember her from back in December and they kept coming by to give her hugs and she how she has been. She is in great hands over at the rehab floor at Kennestone. I hope the swelling goes away so she can really focus on getting all of her strength back again!

If you want to visit, that is fine but keep in mind she has rehab throughout the day until 4:30pm or so, so it would be best to wait until after then to go and see her. Also, limit your visits to about an hour so she can rest when she needs to. Thanks for checking in!

I've fixed the comments so you should be able to leave comments now like you used to.

March 8th

Well can you tell I've been busy at work lately?!

Things haven't progressed much. Mom still has swelling in her legs. Dr. Mccune says she needs to get up and out of bed in order to help with the swelling. So, we thought we were going to take her out of the hospital and have Charity, the woman who was helping take care of her, come and stay with her at Robbie's house again. However, after being denied rehab, they somehow came back and told us that they were going to to put her there again, which is wonderful! Now she can get back to walking and working with her muscles more and feeling better. She hasn't been moved over there just yet because they have to wait for a room to open up. She is still in 549 and if you would like to visit her, that's fine. Just please limit your visits to 1/2 - 1 hour. She gets tired after visiting for awhile.

Thanks and I'll try to update it more often in the future!
