December 7th

Mom is having another procedure next week to place another port in her head to treat the cells in her spine. The intra-thecal procedure she was getting (thats the 2nd type of chemo she received at St. Joseph's) was very painful because they injected it straight into her spine. This new port will alleviate the pain and make it easier for her to receive that type of chemo. She will get that chemo every two weeks and then the R-CHOP (which is what she has been getting lately) she will receive every 3 weeks.

She was very upset upon hearing this so please pray for the Lord to lift her spirits and ease her worries about this. She is getting down about being sick and we need for her to be strong. Of course, she is the strongest woman I know and if it had been me who is going through all of this, I would've broke a long time ago. I can't believe she is just now beginning to feel low. So please pray for the Lord to restore her high spirits. She needs them to fight this.

She is still on schedule to be released on Wednesday, even though they are having her procedure Tuesday.

Krista, Steve & I ran into Wayne & Bonnie Haynes the other night at a restaurant and Wayne just sent me the link to the website. I've eagerly read all of Lindsey's posts to find out how you're doing and will stay in touch. Be assured that you're in our prayers. I will be at St. Joseph's Thursday to see the kidney doctor, so if you're still there, and I can track you down, I'll try to stop in in for a visit. I was finally fully cleared last week from the breast cancer!! Everything has disappeared and I've been been released back to a one year mammogram schedule with my regular gynecologist. The oncologist was not as encouraging in October about the bone marrow cancer. If the proteins continue to increase, he plans to do a bone marrow biopsy in February. However, what he suspects is a slow-growing cancer, one that he called a "smoldering" myeloma. He wants to wait though until the bloodwork comes back in February before we go to that extreme. I am so so sorry that you are going through this. Believe me, I know how frightening it can be just to think it's a possibility. I've been fully cleared from 2 cancers this year - lung and breast. I always think of you on December 11, this coming Monday. You and my son, Stephen, are forever linked together on that day. It's been 18 years for him and 23 years for you. It doesn't seem possible. He has a new little girl. She was born 5 weeks early, weighing in at 4 1/2 lbs, but but doing so well that she came home on the 3rd day, so I now have 4 grandchildren. Kate has 2 boys and a girl. I know things are hard for you, especially this year. I wish I could do more to help lift the burden just a little. When you have access to e-mail or the phone, I'm here. Call me: 770-434-3480 or angieking@bellsouth.net.
LOTS of love, hugs, & kisses, Angie
